In November 2015, I purchased tickets to a May 2016 concert at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto...purchasing that far in advance is a must to get good seats but for the first time it hasn't worked out as I've just been notified that I will be away for a work function on the show date.

I thought that this would be an easy matter of ticket exchange or fan to fan resale but as I've just learned from a Ticketmaster/TicketExchange/TicketsNow customer service agent ...from the moment of sale of Ticketmaster "Official Platinum Seats", all tickets are considered FINAL SALE and don't qualify for ticket exchange or fan to fan resale...wait...what???

Suffering from the same 1-800 call centre vortex as everyone else on this site, after lengthy on hold delays the Ticketmaster agent said that while they post the tickets for sale, "Official Platinum Seats" are offered via a 3rd party vendor and don't fall under the exchange/resale options as with regular seats and suggested I call TicketExchange who does handle the "Official Platinum Seats", which I did and their response was identicalโ€ฆ FINAL SALE, no exchanges or fan to fan resale.

However, that agent suggested I use a "recommended" business called TicketsNow to resell the tickets, stating that Ticketmaster works with them โ€œto ensure a quality fan experienceโ€โ€ฆhe left out the part that discloses Ticketmaster owns the TicketsNow resale operationโ€ฆodd?

Hmmmm, so I've been a loyal Ticketmaster user for a variety of events and my first experience with not being able to attend an event has lead to an understanding that the platinum ticket offering is simply the sale of arbitrarily selected tickets at higher prices with no added value, benefit or services...in fact not even the value, benefit and services that come from the general ticket purchases...:/

Once, twice, three times a profit...if I choose to sell the tickets via TicketsNow, as the seller I am charged a 15% sellers fee and then the buyer is charged an 18% buyers fee...ouch.

What I see is a nice, neat little package of profit...what's blatantly missing is the focus on a quality fan experience and I have to wonder if the artists ever see a penny of these +++charges.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Ticket exchange for another event..

Ticketmaster Cons: Official platinum seats not covered by the tm fan guarantee.
